Cities Expressed in Light: Chicago and Amsterdam (in progress)

My current studio work is focused on environmental light and the way it moves around us unobserved.  Trained in architecture, I have long been interested in the space between the body and architectural boundaries and how, unconsciously, we judge these voids by the flow of peripheral light and shadows that inhabit that volume.  Spawned from my “shadow installations,” which set out to use the body to uncover hidden layers of projected imagery, the current investigation shifts focus to reimagine ways that a camera and ancillary screens can be used to disclose existing light phenomena that, while ubiquitous, falls outside of our visual grasp. The investigation hopes to reveal the inconspicuous and ethereal dance of light that we are continuously moving through unaware.

These videos represent technical experiments for capturing the light.
