Untitled Video Installation (1997)
Upon entering the installation space, the spectator is confronted with a narrative projected to a freestanding wall. As she steps more deeply into the room, two compressed images become visible only inside the space of her shadow. The first is a portrait of an immigrant family; the second is a moving image of an adult figure on a swing. The viewer’s motion, the text, the photograph and the video act to metaphorically to describe a thin space between distant geographies.
